The Ten Commandments of the Lawyers
|
Study Law is in constant evolution. A good lawyer needs to be constantly updated.
Think You learn Law studying, but you practice it thinking.
Fight You must fight for Law; but when Law and Justice come into conflict, fight for Justice.
Work The practice of Law is an arduous work to the service of Justice.
Be Loyal Loyal to your client. You must not abandon him/her until you learn he/she is unworthy of you.
Loyal to your opponent, even when he/she is disloyal to you.
Loyal to the judge, who ignores the facts and must trust in your word and, with regard to Law, who must sometimes trust in the one you invoke. |
Tolerate Tolerate other's truth as much as you want yours to be tolerated.
Be Patient In Law, time takes revenge from those things that are made without its collaboration.
Have Faith Have faith in Law, as the best instrument for the coexistence of human beings; in Justice, as the normal destiny of Law; in Peace, as a kind substitute for Justice. And, above all, have faith in Liberty, without which there is no Law, nor Justice, nor Peace.
Forget The practice of Law is a war of passions. If you fill your soul with rancour in every battle, life will end up being impossible for you.
Once war is over, forget your victory as soon as your defeat.
Love your Profession Try to consider the practice of Law in such a way that, when your son/daughter asks for your advice about his future, you consider it an honor to suggest him to become a Lawyer. |
